Dear (Potential) Lacrosse Refs,

The 2021 season is almost upon us. You are one of a very select group that are going to have the opportunity to officiate games this season, should you decide to join us.

The global pandemic has required us to change our training methods for the upcoming season. We will have 3 one hour Zoom meetings, one and a half hours of on field training, and an online test to become a certified youth official. These restrictions mean that only referees that have on field experience will be considered this year, which is why you are receiving this email. The zoom meetings will provide the best learning experience for those who are able to attend them live but will be recorded and available to view at a later time.

Sign up will be on Eventbrite, links to follow, if you decide you wish to officiate. This year’s costs will be $25 if you need a rulebook, whistle, lanyard, and flag or $15 if you held onto your packet from last year and have the entire kit.

Sophomores interested in officiating in 2021 must complete an additional training scrimmage with an experienced adult referee prior to certification. Due to the challenges of training new officials, we will not be able to provide training for freshmen this season.
